WEEKLY RECAP - WIN STREAK EXTENDS TO SEVEN!

by Sam Aucoin

RECAP –  Nothing wrong with this week. Four wins with three of them by eight or more runs.

This is another addition to the Baycats' weekly recaps where we look back at the past week of Barrie Baycats baseball. This week saw four more Baycats victories extending their winning streak to seven games.

Game Recaps

5-4 Win on Father's Day in London: There is no better way to end Father's Day than with a win. It was all Baycats early thanks to hits from Noel McGarry-Doyle, Canice Ejoh, and Josh Cote. Starter Frank Garcés was terrific in this one. Seven innings of shutout baseball on three hits. Not to mention he struck out ten. Ryan Rijo picked up another home run and Brad Grieveson notched a clutch save. Full Recap: Click Here.

10-2 Win in Guelph: Dom Morea, Rijo, and McGarry-Doyle each had multiple RBIs in a blowout against the Guelph Royals. Two four-run innings from Barrie’s offense led the way. Juan Benítez recorded his third win of the season tossing seven innings of shutout baseball and Aiden Rossel closed things out with a scoreless final frame. Full Recap: Click Here.

15-3 Win against Toronto: The Barrie Baycats faced off against their Highway 400 rivals last Thursday and it was all Baycats. Justin Marra’s two solo home runs were all Toronto would get. Other than that, a Hayden Jaco grand slam and six RBIs with a solo bomb from Rijo led the way. On the pitching side, Jeifry Nunez earned his second win allowing a run in five innings. 14-2 Win in Welland: One streak ends and another continues. For Barrie, it was their seventh in a row, ending a 13-game winning streak by the Jackfish. Victor Plaz had a big night in this game. Two home runs, five RBIs, and a double shy of the cycle. Rijo also drove in five including his fifth big fly in five games which was a grand slam. Garcés was great again, getting his second win this week striking out six in six innings. Full Recap: Click Here.
