Baycats' Power Surge Buries Toronto

Toronto, ON – The Barrie Baycats flexed their offensive muscles Friday night, piling up 13 runs in a commanding 13-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Barrie wasted no time taking control in the opening inning. Francisco Hernandez and Canice Ejoh came around to score on an RBI single from Edgar Figueroa before Nolan Machibroda added an RBI single later in the frame to give the Baycats an early 3-0 lead.

The offense continued to roll in the fourth. After Wandy Ciprian reached base, Ejoh lined an RBI single to center, extending Barrie's advantage to 5-0.

The Baycats blew the game wide open in the sixth inning with a six-run outburst. Ciprian led off the scoring by launching a solo home run to centre field. Later in the inning, Ryan Rijo ripped an RBI single before Machibroda crushed a three-run homer to right-centre, capping the explosive frame and stretching the lead to 11-0.

Barrie added another long ball in the seventh as Noah Hull connected on a monster solo shot to right, making it 12-0.

Toronto broke the shutout in the bottom of the eighth when Dionysius Chialtas scored on a groundout by Spenser Ross.

The Baycats answered immediately in the ninth as Adam Odd drilled a solo home run to left-centre for Barrie's fifth homer of the night and a 13-1 lead.

Marcus Knecht responded with a solo home run for Toronto in the bottom of the ninth to account for the final score of 13-2.

Wandy Ciprian led the Baycats' offense with a 3-for-4 night that included a home run, while Nolan Machibroda finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, highlighted by his three-run blast. Canice Ejoh added two hits and an RBI in the victory.

Hayden Jaco earned the win – his first of 2026, while Frankie Gulko took the loss for Toronto. The victory improves Barrie's momentum as they host a red hot Hamilton Cardinals squad tomorrow at Athletic Kulture Stadium. First pitch is at 4:08 pm.
