Maple Leafs Edge Baycats 10-9 in Thrilling Wednesday Night Showdown at Christie Pits

Toronto, ON – In an electrifying Wednesday night game at Christie Pits, the Toronto Maple Leafs edged out the Barrie Baycats 10-9. The contest was a rollercoaster with plenty of clutch hits that showcased the resilience of both teams. Despite an early lead, Toronto had to battle back to secure the victory.

Both teams' bats were alive throughout the game, with the Maple Leafs finishing with 12 hits compared to Barrie’s 11. The game featured a total of five home runs, highlighting the power and depth in both lineups.

Jordan Castaldo hit one of Toronto’s home runs. Castaldo went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Justin Marra also went deep, capping a four-run third inning. Marcus Knecht drove in three runs on two hits, including a go-ahead three-run shot in the seventh.

The Baycats were not to be outdone, as they rallied with strong performances from Nolan Machibroda, who had a monster game with two hits and four RBIs, and Ryan Rijo, who also contributed a home run and three runs batted in. Canice Ejoh scored three runs, getting hit twice by Maple Leafs reliever Julian Valdez.

Leafs starter Wilgenis Alvarado threw 6.1 innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out 13. However, it was Valdez who made things interesting, surrendering six runs in just 1.1 innings of work. Adam Marra came in for the final 1.1 innings, securing the win with a clean sheet.

Baycats starter Adam Khan allowed five earned runs in just 2.1 innings. Brad Grieveson came in to eat up innings and was able to limit the damage. The loss was charged to Ryan Lacasse, who allowed the game-winner while pitching 1.1 innings.
