Five Home Runs, 22 Strikeouts on the mound Power Baycats Past Barnstormers 10-1

Chatham-Kent, ON - The Barrie Baycats used a five-home-run attack and a dominant performance on the mound from Frank Garcés to roll past the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers 10-1 on Tuesday night.

Barrie opened the scoring with a three-run third inning. Canice Ejoh reached ahead of Noel McGarry Doyle, who launched a two-run home run to right field to give the Baycats a 2-0 lead. Francisco Hernandez later scored on an RBI single from Carson Barker to extend the advantage to three. Chatham-Kent got one back in the bottom half when Bo Buckley scored on an error, but it would be the Barnstormers' only run of the night.

The Baycats continued to add to their lead with the long ball. Noah Hull went deep to right field in the fourth before Hernandez followed with a solo home run in the fifth. Barker then delivered his biggest swing of the night later in the inning, launching a two-run homer to right that scored Nolan Machibroda and pushed Barrie's lead to 7-1.

Machibroda joined the home run parade with a solo shot to centre in the eighth, giving Barrie five home runs from five different hitters. The Baycats added two more runs in the ninth when Brendon Daley and Wandy Ciprian both scored on a Clayton Keyes groundout, completing the 10-1 victory.

Barrie finished the night with 15 hits, led by Daley's 3-for-5 performance. Barker went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI, while McGarry Doyle finished 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBI.

Garcés was outstanding on the mound, earning the win after allowing just one unearned run on four hits across 5.1 innings. The left-hander did not issue a walk and struck out 13 Barnstormers. Oscar Moreta, Boris Vecerka, and Carlos Sano combined to finish the game out of the bullpen as Barrie's pitching staff recorded 22 strikeouts while holding Chatham-Kent without an earned run.

Yuri Yokoyama took the loss for the Barnstormers after allowing seven runs on nine hits over four innings. The victory gave the Baycats a convincing road win behind one of their biggest power displays of the season and a dominant night from their pitching staff.
