Cardinals Surge Late to Defeat Baycats 6-2

Hamilton, ON — The Hamilton Cardinals secured a 6-2 win over the Barrie Baycats tonight. Hamilton broke through in the late innings en route to their 14th win of the season.

The Cardinals' victory was powered by a strong all-around performance, particularly from their pitching staff and a timely offensive surge. Hamilton’s starter, Takaki Eguchi, was solid on the mound, delivering six innings of two-run ball while striking out four and walking four. The win went to Jacob Gajic (1-2), who pitched a scoreless seventh inning and was followed by relievers Connor Cory and Zach Cameron, who each contributed scoreless frames.

Luis Bernardo knocked Hamilton’s first run of the game with a single, finishing 1-for-3 with one RBI. Dennis Dei Baning was the standout performer, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Brendon Daley also drove in two runs on two hits.

For the Baycats, Canice Ejoh and James Anderson each recorded two hits. Anderson drove in both of Barrie’s runs with a second-inning double to left-centre field, scoring Adam Odd and Tyler Plumpton.

Cesar Rosado started the game for Barrie and was effective through four innings, allowing just two earned runs while fanning six. Braedan Pakkala (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs in 2.2 innings of relief. Brad Grieveson and Carlos Sano also saw action, with Sano allowing a run in his lone inning of work.

Cardinals win 6-2. The Baycats are back in action tomorrow at home against Kitchener.
