BAYCATS WIN MILITARY GAME BEATING RED SOX 13-4 BEHIND EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE

The Barrie Baycats continued their strong offensive run on Thursday night, defeating the Brantford Red Sox 13-4 in a dominant performance highlighted by a six-run third inning and a three-run eighth inning.

Brantford struck first in the opening inning when Christian Ortega launched a solo home run to left field off Baycats starter Juan Benitez, giving the Red Sox an early 1-0 lead.

Barrie quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning. Canice Ejoh worked a walk before stealing second base, setting up Noel McGarry Doyle for an RBI single to tie the game. Nolan Machibroda followed with a sacrifice groundout that brought McGarry Doyle home, giving the Baycats a 2-1 advantage.

The Red Sox tied the game in the second inning after Nick Iannantone drew a walk and later scored on an error, but the Baycats’ offence took control in the third.

Barrie sent nine batters to the plate in the inning, scoring six runs to break the game open. Noel McGarry Doyle started the rally with a single, followed by Noah Hull’s RBI single to bring him home. Clayton Keyes was hit by a pitch before Carson Barker walked to force in another run. Brendon Daley then delivered the biggest blow of the inning, lining a two-run single to left field to score Keyes and Hull and extend the lead to 6-2.

The Baycats added another run in the fourth inning when Nolan Machibroda singled home McGarry Doyle, who had reached base and advanced into scoring position. Barrie carried an 8-2 lead into the fifth inning.

Brantford attempted to cut into the deficit in the sixth when Lucas Bateman delivered an RBI single to score Tim Holyk, but Barrie answered immediately. Clayton Keyes smoked an RBI single to score Nolan Machibroda, pushing the Baycats ahead 10-4.

After holding Brantford scoreless over the next two innings, Barrie put the game away in the eighth. Francisco Hernandez opened the inning with a double before scoring on a Nolan Machibroda RBI single. Clayton Keyes then launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring himself and Noah Hull and extending the Baycats’ lead to 13-4.

The Baycats bullpen shut the door from there, with Breidy Encarnacion retiring the Red Sox in order in the ninth inning to secure the 13-4 victory.

Keyes led the offensive attack with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Machibroda contributed multiple hits and two RBIs. McGarry Doyle also had a strong night at the plate, reaching base multiple times and scoring twice.

Benitez provided a solid start for Barrie, helping the Baycats overcome Ortega’s early homer and keeping the Red Sox offence quiet after the first inning.

With the victory, the Baycats showcased their offensive depth, collecting timely hits throughout the lineup while scoring in five different innings. Barrie’s 13-run outburst was powered by 15 hits and a relentless approach at the plate.

The Baycats remain atop the CBL standings and improved to 18-9 overall, while the Brantford Red Sox fell to 9-17 and remain 6 games out of a playoff spot.
