Baycats Sweep Weekend Behind Clarke’s Power and DesRochers’ first IBL Home Run

by Sam Aucoin

Kitchener, ON – If your name is Tristan and you wore a navy blue Baycats jersey Sunday, you had a good day. Not only did your team win 8-4 against the Kitchener Panthers – to cap off a 3-0 weekend – but the power was on full display. I should also mention that Tristan Pappas – another Tristan in the Baycats organization – pitched well for the 22U Baycats today in a 13-9 win over Owen Sound.

The IBL team, who is now 16-10, got their usual effort from Tristan Carke, who knocked his team leading seventh and eighth home runs of the season. The 2025 IBL All-Star has been a treat to watch for Baycats fans and IBL fans.

Another guy who was a treat to watch today was Barrie native Tristan DesRochers, who was making his IBL debut. DesRochers got the call up from the 22U Baycats and went three for five, smacking his first IBL home run – and got the silent treatment as he came back into the dugout – and made every play look routine at shortstop.

Cesar Rosado had to work around a few walks and hit batters in the early going but got through five gutsy innings and earned his fourth win of the season, punching out 11. With Carlos Sano throwing two big innings in Saturday’s game, the three innings the Baycats got out of Ramon Henriquez today were huge. Henriquez has had two straight nice outings on the road this weekend. He struck out four Sunday without walking a batter.

Going back to the Juniors, who always seem to be right in the middle of Barrie’s success lately, Andrew Johnston picked up a pair of hits, including an infield single in which he showed great hustle and Alex Wickett – heard that name before? – picked up another hit and RBI.

Adam Khan closed the door. He is another guy that despite giving up runs in his last two outings, has pitched well as of late.

FINAL: Baycats 8, Panthers 4.

NEXT UP: It’s Zenetec Pack the Park this Thursday. Free baseball as the Baycats take on the Guelph Royals at 7:35 pm.
