Baycats Re-Sign Infielder Hayden Jaco for 2026

Barrie, ON — The Barrie Baycats have announced the return of infielder Hayden Jaco for the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season.

Jaco, a native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, first made his mark in the Intercounty Baseball League in 2021, when he captured Rookie of the Year honours with the London Majors during the first of the club’s back-to-back championship seasons. That year, Jaco hit .374 across 33 regular-season and playoff games, recording five home runs, 23 RBIs, and two triples.

Collegiately, Jaco competed in NCAA baseball during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, playing at Indiana State and Cameron University. Across 70 collegiate games, he hit .318 with 17 extra-base hits and 43 runs driven in.

Alongside his collegiate career, Jaco also played three seasons in the West Coast League from 2016 to 2018. He spent two seasons with the Victoria HarbourCats in 2016 and 2019, as well as a shortened 2017 campaign with the Gresham GreyWolves.

Jaco joined the Baycats in 2023 and has been a consistent contributor since arriving in Barrie. He added his second IBL championship in 2024 and was named an IBL All-Star that season as the starting catcher. Over 96 games with the Baycats, Jaco has recorded eight home runs and driven in 53 runs.

Jaco returns to Barrie continuing his tenure as a versatile infielder and experienced presence within the Baycats lineup.

The Baycats open up their 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign on May 14th at 7:38 pm at Athletic Kulture Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Get your tickets here.
