Baycats Fall 4-2 to Cardinals in Final Regular Season Road Game of 2026

Hamilton, ON - The Barrie Baycats closed out the road portion of their 2026 regular-season schedule with a 4-2 loss to the Hamilton Cardinals at Bernie Arbour Stadium.

Hamilton opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning, with Carlos Dominguez providing the big swing. After Jeremie Veilleux and Brandon Nicoll reached base, Dominguez launched a three-run home run to left field to give the Cardinals an early 3-0 advantage.

The Baycats were held off the scoreboard through the first six innings before breaking through in the seventh. Noel McGarry Doyle came around to score on an RBI double from Nolan Machibroda, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Hamilton answered in the bottom half of the inning. Dario Borrero scored on a Dominguez fielder's choice, giving Dominguez his fourth RBI of the game and restoring the Cardinals' three-run advantage at 4-1.

Barrie continued to battle in the ninth. Francisco Hernandez scored on an RBI single from Machibroda to make it 4-2, but Danny Garcia prevented any further damage to close out the victory for Hamilton.

Machibroda drove in both Barrie runs, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Ryan Rijo also recorded a pair of hits. Dominguez led Hamilton offensively, going 3-for-4 with a home run and all four Cardinals RBI.

Saul Vasquez took the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits over five innings while striking out six without issuing a walk. Brad Grieveson followed with two innings, allowing one run and striking out three, before Braedan Pakkala worked a perfect eighth with two strikeouts.

Caleb Seroski earned the win for Hamilton after allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings while striking out six. Garcia earned the save after allowing one run in the ninth.

The Baycats move to 27-21 and will enter the 2026 CBL Playoffs as the fifth seed, with one game remaining in the regular season.
