Barrie, ON - The Barrie Baycats answered back in a big way in Game 3 of their CBL Semi-Final, erupting for 16 hits in a 13-6 victory over the Hamilton Cardinals. The win cuts Hamilton’s lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-1.

Hamilton opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, with Tyler Duncan driving in Darlin German to give the Cardinals an early 1-0 advantage. Barrie responded in the third with its first big inning of the game. Brandon Hernandez singled home Canice Ejoh and Hayden Jaco before Francisco Hernandez brought Noel McGarry Doyle home, giving the Baycats a 3-1 lead.

The Baycats broke the game open in the fifth. McGarry Doyle started the scoring with an RBI single before Brandon Hernandez doubled home two more. Nolan Machibroda followed with an RBI single, Wandy Ciprian doubled home Francisco Hernandez and Adam Odd capped the six-run inning with an RBI single, extending Barrie’s advantage to 9-1.

Frank Garces gave Barrie six strong innings on the mound, allowing two runs on six hits with just one walk while striking out three to earn the victory. Oscar Moreta followed with a perfect seventh, striking out two, while Brad Grieveson worked a scoreless eighth.

Hamilton mounted a late push in the ninth, scoring four runs to cut into the deficit. Dominguez brought home a run on a sacrifice fly, Darlin German added an RBI single and Duncan drove in two more with a single to centre, but the Baycats' early offensive outburst had provided more than enough separation.
