Baycats Blast Four Home Runs in 14-6 Win Over Red Sox
Brantford, ON – The Barrie Baycats erupted for 14 runs on 16 hits, including four home runs to roll past the Brantford Red Sox 14-6 on the road.
Barrie wasted no time taking control in the opening inning. Noel McGarry Doyle scored the game's first run on an RBI single by Ryan Rijo before Nolan Machibroda ripped a two-run double to right, giving the Baycats an early 3-0 lead.
Brantford got one back in the bottom half when AJ Karosas led off the inning with a solo home run, but Barrie answered with a four-run fourth inning. Adam Odd drove home a run on a fielder's choice before Noah Hull launched a two-run homer to center field. McGarry Doyle capped the rally with an RBI single to stretch the lead to 7-1.
The Baycats continued to pour it on in the fifth. Machibroda drove in Wandy Ciprian with an RBI double before Odd crushed a two-run homer to center. McGarry Doyle added another RBI single later in the inning as Barrie built an 11-2 advantage.
Brantford chipped away over the middle innings, scoring once in the fourth before adding two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to trim the deficit to 11-6.
Barrie put the game out of reach in the ninth. With two runners aboard, McGarry Doyle hammered a three-run home run to left field, capping a four-hit, four-RBI performance and sealing the 14-6 victory.
Saul Vasquez earned the win with a dominant six-inning start, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out 12. Oscar Moreta worked the next two innings before Breidy Encarnacion struck out two in a scoreless ninth to finish the game.
McGarry Doyle led the offense by going 4-for-6 with four RBIs and a home run, while Machibroda finished 3-for-6 with three RBIs. Hull and Odd also homered, and Cassidy Watt added three hits and an RBI as the Baycats' lineup piled up 16 hits in the victory.
