WELLAND TAKES GAME THREE, SHRINKING BARRIE'S LEAD TO 2-1

WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish have taken game three of the IBL finals 13-1, shrinking the Baycats' lead to 2-1. Barrie was unable to get to James Bradwell as he had a dominant start on the mound that was complimented by Welland’s offense.

It was a good day for the Jackfish bats. Led by a three-hit, four RBI day from Sam Cawker and yet another home run from Steven Moretto, four Fish hitters had multiple hits and seven drove in at least one run. A five-run fifth inning where ten batters came up to the plate got the home crowd going and they never looked back.

James Bradwell, who had only lost once all year, had his best start of the playoffs. The right-hander tossed seven innings, allowing zero runs on just one hit and striking out ten. Jeifry Nunez was charged with his first playoff loss. Barrie’s only run was scored by Victor Plaz, who had reached base on a pinch-hit single and was brought around on a couple of ground balls to second base.

Canice Ejoh continued his playoff hot streak, reaching base two more times tonight. He has now reached base in six straight playoff games. Royce Ando had a couple of nice defensive plays at second base, turning a nifty 4-6-3 double play in the sixth inning. His defensive counterpart, Tyler Dupuis, also had some nice plays, making a few nasty hops look easy.
