Rosado Leads Baycats to 6-0 shutout Victory Over Jackfish

Welland, ON – Good teams find different ways to win games.

Last night it was the late-game offensive attack; tonight it was the all-around play, at the plate and on the mound. The Baycats shut out the Welland Jackfish 6-0, winning their second straight game.

The story tonight was Cesar Rosado and what a performance he had. Seven strong innings for the All-Star starting pitcher with an even ten strikeouts. Rosado limited the Jackfish to just two hits and walked only one.

Barrie scored one run in the second and another in the third, thanks to a Noah Hull single and a Canice Ejoh sacrifice fly, respectively. Jackfish starter Enrique Saldana escaped many threatening situations from the Baycats to keep the game close.

However, in the fifth inning, the Baycats broke through for three runs. Brandon Nicholson led off with a double, Ejoh walked, and then Brandon Hernandez brought Nicholson home with a base hit. Two batters later, the bases were loaded after Nolan Machibroda was intentionally walked. That move came back to bite the Fish as Malik Williams ripped a two-run single to right field, making it 5-0 Barrie.

That was more than enough as, after Rosado came out in the eighth, Christian Lazar came in and kept the shutout going, pitching two scoreless innings to close out the game.

Baycats win 6-0.
