RED SOX COMEBACK TO BEAT BAYCATS 4-3

by Sam Aucoin

BARRIE — After a three run ninth inning, the Brantford Red Sox defeated the Barrie Baycats 4-3. Barrie held a 3-1 lead going into the ninth inning but could not hang on.

Baycats starter Cesar Rosado was dominant through his seven innings of work, striking out 12 batters.

Ryan Rijo and Malik Williams both drove in runs for Barrie as they would get on the board early. The Baycats scored two of their three runs in the first inning.

Rosado would keep Brantford off the board, but when he came out in the eighth, the Red Sox offence woke up. David Alvarez hit an RBI double to make it 3-1.

Then in the ninth, Brantford broke through for three runs to complete the comeback. It was Alvarez again who gave the Sox the lead with a single off Brad Grieveson.

Isaiah Ramos picked up the win in relief, throwing two and two thirds scoreless innings. Brandon Hillier was charged with the loss.

Red Sox win 4-3.
