GAME RECAP: Pitching Brilliant In Baycats Win Over Majors
MIDHURST - The Barrie Baycats got a terrific pitching performance on the mound and the team scored four runs in their 4-1 win over the London Majors.
Adam Khan (1-1) was brilliant for the team as he continues as a starting pitcher for the team this season. Khan threw 95 pitches across seven innings, allowing just three hits and one run. Khan's performance, which earned him Baycats Player of the Game, was appreciated by the fans at the ballpark as they gave him a standing ovation as he walked off the mound with one out in the seventh inning. Brad Grieveson pitched two scoreless innings of relief to close the game for the Baycats, lowering his ERA to 1.50. Khan also struck out five in the start.
It was a battle between the two starting pitchers in this game; Pedro De Los Santos (0-2) was the starter for London. De Los Santos, who led the league in ERA among qualified starters in 2021, pitched well overall but the Baycats were able to score three runs against him. A big part of the offense continues to be Juan Familia, who hit two doubles in this game to make it three extra-base hits in two games with the team.
With the win, the Baycats improve to 11-7 on the season.
NEXT UP: Today, the Baycats face the Panthers at Jack Couch Park in Kitchener. Evan Soules will be on the mound for the Baycats, and Skylar Janisse will be on the mound for the Panthers.
