Rain Interrupts Baycats Bats After First Inning, Game will Resume Monday

by Patrick Melbourne

LONDON - The Baycats were certainly seeing the ball well on Sunday evening.

Facing London lefty Jarryd Lund in the first inning, Avery Tuck watched a strike go by, and then slammed the second pitch he saw into right field for a home run. The offense didn't stop there, either.

Jake MacDonald, moving up into the second spot of the batting order, hit a single to centre field in the next at-bat. Ryan Rijo worked the count to 3-1, and then hit MacDonald home on a double. A couple walks later,  David LeBlanc would hit Rijo home on a single. After Carson Burns followed that up with a single of his own, Lund was out of the game.

Overall, the Baycats would bat around in the first inning and score seven runs.

The Majors would counter by getting a runner to scoring position off of Riley Hoover in the bottom of the inning, but Hoover got the fielder's choice he needed to end the inning.

After that, the rain became too overpowering, and the game was postponed until tomorrow. The Baycats currently lead 7-0 over the Majors.
