Maple Leafs Top Baycats in Game One of Semifinal Series

by Sam Hossack

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Barrie Baycats 10-5 on Wednesday night. With the win, Toronto's taken a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three semifinals series.

Avery Tuck, Ryan Rijo & Branfy Infante each smacked RBI base hits in the top of the first inning as the Baycats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. The Maple Leafs would claw their way back into the game in the bottom half, however, as they would be led by a late two-run Marcus Knecht home run to cap off a 5-run inning.

Two more in the second and third innings for Toronto would have them cruising to a 9-3 lead before Avery Tuck hit two solo homers to make it 9-5. Toronto would add one more in the seventh inning, and that was more then enough to take the 10-5 win tonight.
