GAME RECAP: Royals Score in Big Moments to Win Against Baycats

by Patrick Melbourne

GUELPH - It wasn't the game the Baycats were hoping for in Guelph on Tuesday night, as the Royals won their evening matchup 5-1.

Jeifry Nunez was very strong as the starter for the Royals, going five innings and only allowing one hit. The Royals got four one-run innings from their bullpen; Evan Chenier, Emilis Guerrero, Brandon Deans, and Andrew Case helped secure the win for Guelph as their late-inning strategy went exactly to plan.

Baycats starter Adam Khan went four innings, allowing three runs and striking out five. Relievers Aidan Rossel and Evan Soules combined for four two-run innings.

The Baycats' four hits came from Owen Jansen, Ryan Rijo, Jake Wilson, and Carson Burns. Wilson also walked in the game.

The Royals combined for eleven hits and five walks; Conner Morro and Claudio Custodio both finished the game with three hits.

With the loss, the Baycats finish their season series against the Guelph Royals with a 1-5 record. The Baycats' next game will be on Thursday against the Welland Jackfish at home. You can get tickets here, or watch live on Baycats TV.
