GAME RECAP: Panthers Beat Baycats in Eventful Sunday Game

by Patrick Melbourne

KITCHENER - The Barrie Baycats and the Kitchener Panthers played a wild game on Sunday afternoon, and although the Panthers won the game 15-14 on a walk-off home run, fans from both teams can say they saw one of the most exciting games that the IBL has seen this season.

The Baycats and Panthers each had six-run innings during different times in the game, and the Baycats came back from both a 7-0 deficit and a 12-7 deficit. The team hit five home runs during the game, coming from Carson Burns, Royce Ando, James Anderson, Noel McGarry-Doyle, and Juan Familia. Familia's was a third-inning grand slam, his fourth extra-base hit and second home run since joining the Baycats on Thursday evening.

The offense has really been strong lately for the Baycats - every hitter got on base at least once again today for the team.

Tied at 13 going into extra innings, the Baycats scored a run on an eventful play in the top of the tenth inning to make it 14-13. It was Liam Wilson, however, who would have the biggest hit of the night, hitting a two-run walk-off home run to win the game for the Panthers.

NEXT UP: The Baycats play in London on Canada Day (July 1st). You can get tickets to that game here. TV information for that game will be available soon.
