GAME RECAP: Majors Score 12 in Win Over Baycats

by Patrick Melbourne

BARRIE - The London Majors scored twelve runs and beat the Barrie Baycats 12-2 in their game at Vintage Throne Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

London starter José Arias was excellent, throwing seven innings of four-hit shutout baseball. He struck out eight, and his season ERA went down to 1.06. Pedro De Los Santos came into the game in relief, pitching two innings for London.

On the Barrie side, Juan Benítez was good for the first three innings, but he gave up seven runs in the fourth inning and left the game as the Majors were about to bat around in their lineup. Relievers Dalton Brownlee, Max Lojko, Aidan Rossel, and Ryan Rijo came out of the bullpen for the team. Rijo, normally the team's first baseman, pitched a solid inning in front of a crowd that was happy to cheer him on.

One of the best hitters for the Baycats today was Brandon Hillier! With three hits and a run, Hillier, normally a pitcher, was very strong at the plate. He played well defensively as well. Another good defender for the Baycats today was Marcel Lacasse, who was playing his first game at catcher for the Baycats since last season.

The Baycats travel to Hamilton to play against the Cardinals tomorrow at 2 PM ET.
