GAME RECAP: Baycats Win On The Road Over Cardinals

by Patrick Melbourne

HAMILTON - The Barrie Baycats got a great pitching performance from Juan Benítez, and the team got the victory on the road in Hamilton. The team won 3-2 against the Cardinals.

Benítez (1-2) was excellent; the right-hander threw seven innings, giving up only two runs. He struck out nine and only allowed four hits. The bullpen was also brilliant, as Brandon Hillier and Brad Grieveson combined to only give up one hit over two innings. Grieveson now has an ERA of 1.63 across seven appearances this season (Hillier's is also great at 2.84).

Jake Wilson was the star at the plate for the Baycats, hitting a home run in the third inning for his second hit of the day. Brendan Colley walked three times, and Michael Cecchetto reached base twice and scored a run.

Ben Braun (1-2) pitched well for the Cardinals, allowing only two runs across 5 1/3 innings pitched, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baycats today.

NEXT GAME: Sunday night, the Baycats are back at home to face Dalton Pompey, Claudio Custodio, Darius Barlas, and the Guelph Royals. You can get tickets to the game here, or watch live on Baycats TV.
