GAME RECAP: Baycats Win In Extra Innings Against Cardinals

by Patrick Melbourne

HAMILTON - The Baycats scored twice in the top of the tenth inning to beat the Hamilton Cardinals 7-5 and win in extra innings. Barrie, who was down 5-0 after the first inning, ended up scoring seven unanswered runs on the way to winning a close game.

Evan Soules (2-1) got the win with four brilliant innings of relief. Soules struck out five and allowed only one hit in the appearance. The starter, Adam Khan, had another great start despite a first inning where the Cardinals scored all five of their runs - after the first inning, Khan pitched five innings where he only gave up four hits and didn't give up a run. Daury Torrez (0-4) got the loss.

After trailing 5-0 after one inning, the Baycats scored two runs in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, and one in the sixth to tie the game. In the tenth inning with the game tied, the Baycats put together a great rally to score two runs and win the game against the tough closer in Torrez. Brendan Colley was named the Baycats Player of the Game, he had two key hits and reached base three times, all while playing elite defense.

With the win, the Baycats are now 13-9 on the season.
