GAME RECAP: Baycats Win At Home Against Cardinals
MIDHURST - There was a positive atmosphere among the Baycats fans around Vintage Throne Stadium following the game between the Hamilton Cardinals and Barrie Baycats on Thursday night, and that was for good reason - the Baycats had one of their better games of the season, winning 11-4 over the Cardinals.
Juan Benítez (2-2), the Baycats starter, threw one of his best games of the season, throwing seven innings and only allowing four runs. If you take the third inning away from his results, he'd only have given up the one run. Chris Cox and Aidan Rossel pitched the eighth and ninth innings respectively, and each threw a scoreless inning of relief. Cox in particular was dominant, striking out two of the three batters he faced. Following Rossel's sixth appearance of the year, his ERA is still 0.00.
At the plate, everyone on the Baycats was seeing the ball well - Noel McGarry-Doyle reached base six times (and stole four bases), Adam Odd reached base four times, and Jake Wilson had three hits. Every batter in the Baycats batting order (with the exception of batters who entered in late-game substitutions) had at least one hit.
Following the win, the Baycats are now 7-6 on the season.
NEXT GAME: The Baycats play in Brantford tomorrow evening. The game will be at 8:00 at Arnold Anderson Stadium. You can get tickets to that game here. The game will be available to watch live on BarrieBaycats.com.
