GAME RECAP: Baycats Beat Reds in Exhibition Game
Barrie, ON – In a game that seemed like a high-level scrimmage, the Barrie Baycats defeated the Thornhill Reds 13-3. You would probably get more insight on this game from our Baycats TV broadcast than a box score because that box score would be a complete mess. But that is what is so interesting about exhibition games.
Home Runs from Nolan Marchibroda, Jericho Morris-Johns, and two from Tristian Clarke led the way on offense. Where those guys hit in the order when they went yard is another question. Because it was an exhibition game, spots in the lineup were continuously shuffled, positions too.
An example of this is when Zachary Owen scored one of the many runs in the game and then came up to bat the very next slot in the lineup. Owen was taken out, then put back into another spot in the order so he could hit again. Not something you see every day and definitely not something you will see when the regular season gets underway.
Juan Benitez, Frank Garces, Cesar Rosado, and Christian Lazar all worked an inning in this game. Theres four innings, and do not worry, the pitching did not get that weird. Unless you count the fact that a few 22U Baycats pitchers played for Thornhill in this game, with their Baycats jerseys.
This might turn into another promotion for Baycats TV but I truly believe that the only way to know what happened in a game like this is by listening to Ben Davy and Julius Hern call it. Box score aside, this was a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch. What a great way to start the season at Athletic Kulture Stadium.
Final score, 13-3.
