GAME PREVIEW - BAYCATS VS ROYALS (JULY 30TH, 2023)

by Sam Aucoin

BARRIE – The four-in-four stretch ends today with another home game, this time a rematch against the Guelph Royals. Last Thursday, it was Guelph who defeated Barrie 6-4 so the Baycats will be looking for revenge this afternoon.

After beating London yesterday and securing two straight wins, the Baycats, in the words of GM Josh Matlow will have “a chance {today] to take home a third win in a row and three out of four this weekend.” An important win as well as Kitchener is only a half-game behind them.

The right-hander Evan Soules will get the start hoping to get back to the form he had in Hamilton on July 16th when he threw six and two-thirds innings striking out eight. Soules has had a number of appearances where he has dominated and that is what Barrie will be looking for today.

“I’d love to see him go deep into the game,” said Matlow. “Just keep playing the good baseball that we’ve been playing.” Josh also said in his postgame interview that we will be seeing some shake-ups in today's lineup in order to give some guys rest and let other guys get some playing time.
