GAME PREVIEW - BAYCATS VS MAJORS

by Sam Aucoin

BARRIE — Baycats ace Frank Garcés takes the mound for another junior Baycats day. His team just came off a crazy 5-3 win in Toronto. Brad Grieveson’s brilliance and a triple play led Barrie to victory. The London Majors, currently sitting at 8-12, have performed better as of late and should make for a good matchup this afternoon at the ballpark.

Lineup and Starting Pitcher

There are a bunch of changes to today’s lineup. Ryan Rijo is out, Josh Tibbits is in and Owen Jansen gets the start at first base. The top four now has Avery Tuck in the cleanup spot behind Noel McGarry-Doyle, Canice Ejoh, and Starlin Rodriguez.

As mentioned, Garcés will take the hill for the Cats looking for his fifth win. Frank is 1-0 against London this year. His first start against the Majors at Labatt Park on June 18th went fantastic allowing zero earned runs on three hits. Here is the full starting lineup.

1: LF - Noel McGarry-Doyle

2: CF - Canice Ejoh

3: 2B - Starlin Rodriguez

4: RF - Avery Tuck

5: C - Josh Cote

6: DH - Josh Tibbits

7: SS - Carson Burns

8: 3B - Victor Plaz

9: 1B - Owen Jansen

SP - Frank Garcés

Player Spotlight: Josh Tibbits

Today seems like the day that Josh Tibbits could have his first breakout game as a Baycat. Tibbits has been hitting the ball very well recently so that leads me to think he’s close. Therefore he is today’s player to watch.
