GAME PREVIEW - BAYCATS AT ROYALS

by Sam Aucoin

GUELPH – For the second time this season, the Barrie Baycats are in Guelph for their third matchup against the Royals of 2023. The Baycats are 2-0 against the Royals this year and have won four in a row coming into tonight’s affair.

Dropping to 4-10 and losing seven of their last ten games, the Guelph Royals are not having the greatest start to their campaign. Especially for a team that was in contention for the number one seed until the final day of the schedule last year.

Players to look out for

Ryan Rijo: With three home runs in two games this past weekend, Ryan Rijo has definitely found his power. On Saturday, he led his team to an epic comeback in a wild 12-11 victory and on Sunday, he drove in two big runs in a 5-4 win.

Canice Ejoh: With speedy guys like Noel McGarry-Doyle and Starlin Rodriguez on your team, some people may underestimate Canice Ejoh and his speed. Well, now we realize just how fast Canice is. For starters, he leads the team in stolen bases even though he came to the team late. He also leads Barrie in triples, granted only two of them, but still a showcase of his sprint speed.
