GAME PREVIEW - BAYCATS AT MAPLE LEAFS

by Sam Aucoin

TORONTO – The last time the Maple Leafs and Baycats matched up against each other, the game went 12 innings and there was a triple play. Today, the same two teams will square off at Christie Pits.

The Baycats (21-10) are looking for their fourth win in a row. But on the other side, the Maple Leafs are looking to do the exact same. This will be the last regular season game of 2023 that Barrie will play at Dominico Field.

For Barrie, they will send Juan Benítez to the mound for his sixth start, second against Toronto. The player that Manager Josh Matlow was most looking forward to seeing in this contest was Benítez. Juan’s 3.34 ERA in 31.1 innings pitched is not too shabby so it is no secret he will be the guy to watch.

“He looks like he’s nine feet tall in Toronto,”  said Matlow, whose comment got some chuckles from the Baycats Media Team. “We’re hoping he can continue that,” he added referring to Juan’s success at Christie Pits. “We’re ready for it!”

Tonight’s game starts at 7:30 pm. Entry is free so spread the word and go support the Cats. The Maple Leafs will be streaming the game live on their YouTube. Enjoy the game!
