DAVY, HERN TO RETURN TO BAYCATS BROADCAST BOOTH IN 2024

BARRIE - The Baycats are pleased to confirm that the play-by-play tandem of Ben Davy and Julius Hern will be on the mic for all 21 regular season home broadcasts, playoffs, and select road games in 2024.

Davy began covering the Baycats during their IBL championship season in 2005, the first year Rogers TV began televising baseball in Barrie.  After stepping away for almost a decade, he returned at the invitation of Josh Matlow when the league resumed play post-pandemic in 2021.

“I get in for free, it’s the best seat in the house, and no one complains when I talk during the game. What could be better?” Davy says with a grin when asked why he returned.

Joining the seasoned veteran is broadcasting student Julius Hern, one of several young announcers who worked with Davy in the booth last year. Hern got his first taste of play-by-play announcing, colour commentating, and sideline reporting in what turned out to be a very busy year for him in his inaugural season covering the team.

“I’m extremely appreciative of the opportunity the Baycats have provided me,” Hern said. “I love working with Ben, and I think we’re quite cohesive. Fans should be excited for our coverage to improve throughout 2024.”
