by Patrick Melbourne

BARRIE, March 15th, 2022 - One of the best players on the Barrie Baycats is returning to the team for the upcoming 2022 season.

Branfy Infante, who first joined the Baycats in 2014, has been one of the team's best players for many years - and he was excellent last season as well. Infante hit .325/.460/.575 across 11 regular season games in 2021. He finished the season with the team's second best OPS (1.035) and slugging percentage (.575).

In two playoff games last season, Infante hit .625 with five hits.

"It's great having a familiar face back," said Baycats President Josh Matlow. "Branfy brings experience back to the team and will play a big role this year on the field and off the field with the young players."

BAYCATS ADD TO INFIELD, SIGN ADAM ODD AND DOMENIC MOREA

The Baycats were busy over the last few days, adding to their infield with the signings of Adam Odd and Domenic Morea.

Odd has played in the IBL in four seasons (2015-2018), gaining popularity as a reliable left-handed infielder. In his rookie 2015 season with the Burlington Bandits, Odd hit .372 with five home runs and 20 RBI, being named to the 2015 IBL All-Star team. He played two seasons for the Bandits before signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017.

Morea, from Barrie, is entering his first IBL season. Primarily a first baseman, Morea is also a member of the Tabor College Blue Jays team.
