BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club announced today that catcher Jose Vicente has been signed for the 2020 Intercounty Baseball League season.

Vicente, 24, has spent the last six seasons in the Cleveland Indians organization, hitting 33 home runs with an OPS of .737 and a SLG% of .424.

Able to play the corner infield positions as well, Baycats general and field manager Josh Matlow said he is thrilled to welcome Vicente to the Baycats organization.

"Jose is a pure baseball player. He brings not only quality baseball experience but great character. He is versatile and can play multiple positions if necessary and can flat out hit. His presence in the lineup will be felt game in and game out and we are extremely excited to add Jose to this summer's roster to continue our winning culture."

Vicente said he cannot be more excited to join the Baycats.

"I am very excited to play in Canada [as] it will be my first season [playing for] a team in Canada. I feel very happy and grateful for the opportunities that this team is giving me. I would really like to help the team continue [to be] champions by giving it my all."
