Baycats Sign Robertson for 2021 Season

by Ryan Eakin

BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club announced today that we have signed pitcher Mason Robertson for the 2021 season.

Robertson, 19, is set to enter his freshman season at Hillsborough CC after he spent his travel ball career with the Ontario Blue Jays.

The 6'4", 235 lbs southpaw from Orillia, Ontario was invited to the Milwaukee Brewers spring training in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic halted those plans.

Baycats manager Josh Matlow said he is excited to add this high upside arm to the Baycats' pitching staff.

"Mason is a big lefty pitcher that can be used in many ways. He’s also a local boy, growing up in Orillia which we love to see climb the ranks! We expect Mason to make an immediate impact in 2021.”

Robertson said he cannot wait to get started with his hometown team.

“I’m very honoured for the opportunity to be joining the Baycats for the upcoming summer 2021 season. I’m very excited to be able to play close to my hometown, along with looking to repeat what this team has done over the last several years. I can not wait to be a Baycat."
