Baycats Sign Patterson for 2020 Season

by Ryan Eakin

BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club announced today that third basemen JT Patterson has been signed for the 2020 Intercounty Baseball League season.

Patterson, 22, is a graduate of Bellevue University after having spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Northeastern College.

In his senior season at Bellevue, Patterson played in 64 games, recording an on-base percentage of .467 and a slugging percentage of .752 while hitting a whopping 24 home runs.

He hit a combined 40 home runs in his two seasons at Bellevue after hitting 23 home runs in his two seasons at Northeastern.

The 6'0", 185 lbs Calgary, Alberta native played three seasons in the Western Canadian Baseball League -- Canada's best collegiate baseball league.

Baycats general and field manager Josh Matlow said he is excited to add Patterson's impact bat to the middle of the Baycats lineup.

"We had JT on our radar for a while now. We were waiting for a decision to be made by [Kevin] Atkinson if he was coming back. Once we heard Atkinson wasn’t returning we knew JT would be the perfect fit at third base. JT will be an immediate offensive impact and we are thrilled to have him join us this summer. JT’s signing will complement all the other young stars we are bringing in.”
