Baycats Sign Avery Tuck For 2023 Season

BARRIE - He's back! The Barrie Baycats are pleased to welcome outfielder Avery Tuck to the 2023 edition of the team. Tuck and the Baycats came to an agreement yesterday, and he has been activated to the active roster.

Tuck, who hit .274 with the team in 2021, impressed fans with six home runs across the regular season and postseason that year. He also hit three doubles and a pair of triples across the season.

"He's a big signing," said Baycats TV analyst Patrick Melbourne. "We saw in 2021 that he brings plus speed and defense, and then he's also got the pop in the bat and a good approach. With an outfield that also primarily includes Starlin Rodriguez, Canice Ejoh, and Noel McGarry-Doyle, and Rodriguez' ability to also play the infield, it's truly an impressive setup."

Tuck, who is from San Diego, California, will be activated under the Intercounty Baseball League's "Import Player" rule.

The Barrie Baycats have also released pitcher Emilis Guerrero. The Baycats would like to wish Guerrero the best, as he leaves the team as one of the best pitchers in franchise history.

The Baycats play their next home game on June 22nd at Vintage Throne Stadium. The game begins at 7:35, and the team will face the Toronto Maple Leafs. You can buy tickets here.
