BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club announced today that infielder Royce Ando has been signed for the 2020 Intercounty Baseball League season.

Ando, 22, is a graduate of Michigan State University.

In his senior season, Ando played in 53 games while batting .304 with a home run.

The 5'11", 190 lbs Toronto, Ontario native played three years on the Canadian National Junior team prior to joining the Spartans in 2016, playing alongside the likes of Josh Naylor, Cooper Davis, and Tristian Pompey.

He was a member of the 2015 18U World Cup team in Osaka, Japan

Baycats general and field manager Josh Matlow said he is excited to welcome Ando to the Baycats organization.

"Royce is not only an incredible infielder but a fierce competitor. He is exactly what we are looking for to help compliment some of the young stars we are bringing in. Royce has high praise from players he has played with and we look forward to adding his character and work ethic to the lineup.

“I have a strong feeling Baycats fans will enjoy watching Royce play. We are excited to have him."
