Baycats Name Matlow General Manager and Field Manager

BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club announced today that Josh Matlow has been hired as the next general manager and field manager of the franchise.

“The management of the Barrie Baycats is pleased to announce that we have brought Josh Matlow back to the Baycats organization," said Chris Gariepy of the Baycats ownership group. "Josh will take over the helm as general manager and field manager for the 2020 season.

"Josh certainly fits our search criteria as he attended Canisius College in Buffalo, New York as a freshman on a baseball scholarship and was a member of the Baycats from 2005-2009, including our first IBL Championship in 2005.

"Josh has also had international baseball experience, both in Australia and Israel.

"Through the Innisfil, Ontario native skills, efforts and abilities, we look forward to the continued success of our team."

“I am excited and humbled to be such an integral part of the organization," said Matlow. "I want to thank the entire ownership group of the Baycats for not only considering me but for entrusting in me to continue the winning culture that has been established for years, both on and off the field.

“For me, it’s about being a part of not only baseball but the rich history of the IBL and the Baycats family. Being a former Baycats player, it’s amazing to see everything work in a full circle.

"My wife and family have been nothing but supportive and I look forward to making many people proud and to the new era in Baycats baseball."

“With only 4 months to opening day, we are already setting our sites on the quest for a historic 7”, quipped Gariepy.
