Baycats Name Eakin Media Director
BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats organization is pleased to announce that Ryan Eakin has been named Baycats Media Director.
Ryan has been apart of the organization for a significant number of years, writing for the team, including feature stories, post-game reports, and announcements, as well as helping with media up in the press box during the game. He has also filled in as the ‘colour guy’ on our radio broadcasts along with Dante DeCaria. Ryan also contributes to our annual Baycats program with superb written content.
Coupled with these responsibilities, his desire to write about the Baycats has become a very important role through his post-game interviews and insights which have become a website favourite for the Baycats fans over the years.
In honour of our 20th season of play, Ryan is providing 20 different in-depth interviews and podcasts of the past, present and future of our organization as a series entitled “Baycats 20/20 Vision: The Past, Present & Future”. The series has already begun and now appears on our Baycats website, as well as our social media platforms every Monday for 20 consecutive weeks. You can keep up with the series by clicking here.
Ryan attended Seneca College, studying journalism but come this fall he is enrolled in Television and Radio Sports Broadcasting at the College of Sports Media, a private media school located in downtown Toronto.
“We are very fortunate to have Ryan step up and take on this very important role of media interface and team communications. I am amazed at his knowledge and his recall of various aspects of our history,” said team President David Mills. “Communications are vital to our success and we look forward to having Ryan continue to add those necessary elements to our organization”.
Ryan will be an integral part of the Baycats growth within the media department that will include more behind the scenes access, player pre and post-game interviews, working with new In-Game Host Rob Daniels, as well getting a live stream free on YouTube set up for all home games throughout the 2021 season.
“I have always believed in Ryan’s vision and creative spirits,” said Josh Matlow, General and Field Manager. “Ryan exemplifies extreme loyalty and passion towards the Baycats organization. He has so much to offer and we are excited to see him spread his wings with us. We look forward to everything that Ryan will bring to the table as a Media Director and feel he was a perfect fit for the position."
