Baycats Fall 12-9 to Majors
Barrie, ON – The Barrie Baycats battled back from an early deficit but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 12-9 to the London Majors.
London opened the scoring with two runs in the first on a Starling Joseph double. Barrie answered with two runs in the second to tie the game before the Majors scored three in the third. Francisco Hernandez responded with a solo home run in the bottom half to make it 5-3.
The Majors added four more in the fourth, highlighted by Cristian Inoa's three-run home run, extending their lead to 9-3. Barrie chipped away with a run in the fifth before putting together a three-run sixth. Hayden Jaco drove in Wandy Ciprian before Adam Odd brought home Jaco and Noah Hull with a two-run single, cutting the deficit to 9-7.
London answered with three runs in the seventh, getting an RBI single from Xavier Whittle and a two-run double from Trent Lenihan to make it 12-7. Barrie added two more runs before the end of the game, but couldn't close the gap.
Travis Keys earned the win for London, while Saul Vasquez took the loss for Barrie. Starling Joseph finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Lenihan and Inoa each drove in three runs.
Barrie heads to Kitchener on Sunday looking to finish the week with an even record. First pitch is 2:05 at Jack Couch Park.
