Baycats Continue Partnership with Sports Medicine

by Ryan Eakin

BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club and Sports Medicine are proud to partner together in order to help keep our players on the field, in the game, and winning championships.

The Baycats have set the standard of care at its highest level by partnering with Barrie Sports Medicine, as since their inaugural year, Sports Medicine has provided a full-time athletic therapist to the team.

If injuries occur, Sports Medicine also provides quick access to their Sports Medicine doctors, treatment in their clinics, and Trainers Choice bracing. If a player is off for an extended period of time with an injury, Sports Medicine provides reconditioning to return players back to play at their highest level quickly and safely.

Sports Medicine is also the official clinic to the Barrie Royals Basketball, Barrie Soccer Club, OHL Barrie Colts, and is an Olympic Athlete Treatment facility. For the past 30 years, they have provided emergency care for every high school rugby and football game in our city.

Sports Medicine has clinics in Angus, Orillia, and three locations in Barrie at 480 Huronia Road, 1017 Carson Road, and 72 Ross Street.

Sports Medicine will also be providing Adam Murphy, a team trainer who is a chiropractor, for all our games.

Dr. Murphy has been working with rugby and hockey teams over the past several years, including the Markham Royals Junior A team and the Markham Thunder of the Canadian Women's Hockey League as the Strength & Conditioning Coach. This past season he was named the Head Trainer for the Barrie Colts Minor Midget AAA hockey team. Dr. Murphy is currently enrolled in the Sport Sciences Residency Program while pursuing a Master’s of Health Sciences at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
