Brantford, ON – The Barrie Baycats ended their regular season schedule on a high note, defeating the Brantford Red Sox 6-2 in ten innings. Barrie got a solid start from Adam Khan, followed by key relief appearances, leading to a four-run tenth inning and their 27th win of the season.

Khan pitched six innings in what was his best outing of the season. The Aurora, Ontario native struck out four and surrendered two runs on five hits. Carlos Sano and Ryan Lacasse both threw scoreless innings, each striking out a pair.

The Baycats tied the game in the top of the ninth with an RBI double from Josh Cote, who was making his season debut. Hayden Jaco—who is usually a catcher and third baseman—pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Four runners crossed the plate for the Baycats in the next half-inning. Jaco contributed on both sides tonight, aiding Barrie’s offensive attack along with Brandon Hernandez, Nolan Machibroda, and Malik Williams.

Jaco returned for the bottom half of the inning and made quick work of the Red Sox, securing a Baycats win that guarantees them the second seed going into the IBL playoffs. Hayden earned the win on the mound for his efforts.

The Baycats won 6-2 and will begin a best-of-five series this Thursday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
