Baycats Clinch Dominico Cup Finals Berth with 8-2 Victory over Majors

Barrie, ON – Back to the finals.

It's no secret that the Baycats have been a force at home this postseason. The fans have shown up and made plenty of noise. It was no different with two strikes and two outs in the ninth inning and former Baycat Victor Plaz at the plate. Barrie closer Carlos Sano struck out Plaz to end the ballgame, ignite the crowd even more, and send the Baycats to the IBL finals for the second year in a row.

A big part of why the Baycats have now gone 6-0 in these playoffs is that they have received consistent performances from their top three starters. That was evident again tonight with Juan Benítez throwing seven shutout innings with five strikeouts.

The offence had a big day again, featuring a pair of home runs—one by Nolan Machibroda and one by Canice Ejoh. Malik Williams added two hits and an RBI as well. The Baycats scored two runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings, jumping out to an 8-0 lead.

That was more than enough as Brad Grieveson and Carlos Sano locked things down, sending the Barrie Baycats back to the Dominico Cup Finals.

Baycats win 8-2.
