Baycats and Castaldo Part Ways

by Ryan Eakin

BARRIE - The Intercounty Baseball League [IBL] has received an application from Jordan Castaldo to exercise the Local Player Rule in the IBL.

This is when an IBL player wants to play in the community where he lives.

The application has been reviewed and approved by the IBL. He is now free to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

One of the greatest players to ever don a Baycats jersey, Castaldo leaves the Baycats after seven seasons with the team, winning six championships, the 2014 and 2019 Most Valuable Player Award, the 2015 Playoff Most Valuable Player Award, the 2014, 2018 and 2019 batting title, and the 2019 Triple Crown.

The Baycats organization would like to thank Castaldo for his seven years of service and wish him nothing but the best as he closes out his career closer to home.

For more information, follow the Baycats on Facebook and Twitter at @iblbaycats and on Instagram at @barriebaycats.

And remember that you can buy tickets to all of our home games here.
