Baycats Add Five-Tool LeBlanc for Remainder of 2021 Season
BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats Baseball Club announced today that we have signed outfielder David LeBlanc for the remainder of the 2021 season.
LeBlanc, 23, is coming off of a dominant college career at Husson University.
In his three-year career at Husson, the speedy outfielder recorded a stat line of .-322.-.400-.-481, good enough for an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of .881.
In his senior season at Husson, the Beaumont, Alberta native recorded a stat line of .330-.417-.542, good enough for an OPS of .941.
LeBlanc led all Canadian D3 players in 2021 in SLG%, OPS, doubles, and home runs, while finishing second in hits, home runs, and triples.
LeBlanc, who considered himself retired and was working on his family farm before DeCaria reached out to him, says he is pumped to resume his baseball career.
"I am excited for the opportunity here in Barrie with a new club and new scenery. I am ready to compete and chase another championship with the Baycats."
Baycats director of player procurement Dante DeCaria, who recruited LeBlanc to the Baycats, says he is thrilled to add LeBlanc's right-handed bat to the middle of the Baycats' lineup.
"The Baycats organization is more than thrilled about this signing. Leblanc is a five-tool outfielder and an outstanding person. His presence will be felt in the community, locker room, and on the field. It was tough to convince him to leave his family farm for just over a month of baseball and we couldn’t be happier to have him. We love his character, work ethic, and ability which makes us a better ball club. He’s a grinder and holds a team-first mentality."
Lastly, we have granted outfielder Kenny Di Clemente his release and look forward to him rejoining us for the 2022 season!
