Starlin Rodriguez Returns to Barrie Baycats in 2022

BARRIE - One of the top players from the 2018 and 2019 Barrie Baycats teams is returning to the team for the upcoming 2022 season.

Starlin Rodriguez, who played a total of 80 games for the team across those two years, is expected to play a combination of infield and outfield roles in his return. In his Baycats career so far (counting both regular season and postseason games), Rodriguez has a .329 batting average with ten home runs and 72 RBI.

"Starlin has had some great years with the Baycats and we are excited for him to return and add to our deep lineup," said Baycats President Josh Matlow. "We like his experience with the organization as well; winning championships in Barrie. We look forward to seeing another impactful season for Starlin.”

On Saturday, May 14, fans are invited to see the Baycats face off against the GTBL's Thornhill Reds.  Entry is free with a non-perishable food item for the Barrie Food Bank; Otherwise the game will cost $2, and all of that money will go directly to the Barrie Food Bank.
