2022 Barrie Baycats Home Games to Air Live on Rogers tv Barrie

BARRIE, January 27th, 2022 - The Barrie Baycats today announce that the team's 2022 home games will air live on Rogers tv Barrie.

"Rogers tv plays a monumental role in the growth of the Baycats, the game of baseball and local sports within Simcoe County," said Baycats president Josh Matlow. "Baycats fans can now follow Simcoe County’s team from the comfort of their own homes when they aren’t able to attend the games. Sponsors and supporters can now share the Baycats games ‘LIVE’ in their restaurants, bars, gyms and store fronts."

Each game will air live on Rogers tv Barrie (Cable 10).

"I am extremely proud of our media team for creating a great live broadcast in such a short amount of time, said Matlow. "The Baycats are committed over the next few years to continuously grow our broadcast and assure our fans get the best possible entertainment and viewing experience."

“Rogers tv is proud to partner with the Barrie Baycats for this upcoming season, said Rogers tv station manager Kevin Kelly. "Baycats TV home games will be broadcast on Rogers community channel Cable 10, giving more fans a chance to see their team.”

The Barrie Baycats are also happy to announce their lead commentary team for 2021 live game coverage.

Ben Davy returns to the broadcast booth for his ninth season as the lead play-by-play commentator for the Baycats, and his second since rejoining the team's commentary team in 2021. Davy is a familiar voice for viewers of Rogers tv Barrie - he was the lead play-by-play broadcaster for the Baycats on the network over seven seasons, beginning in 2005. He has also called play-by-play for Barrie Colts broadcasts on Rogers tv.

“A year ago, sizing up the Baycats was a bit of a guessing game, with so many brand new faces on the field, plus the added challenge of putting a team out there after an entire missed season," said Davy. "What we saw was a very competitive ballclub that really built some nice momentum, particularly heading into the postseason. So this year we have a better idea of what we can expect to see, and I really believe it will be another step forward towards the next championship for this organization. A brand new legacy of winning is being developed right before us.”

“These guys play hard and with a ton of emotion and energy. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.”

Patrick Melbourne joins the broadcast booth for his second season as the team's booth analyst and secondary play-by-play commentator. A graduate of the College of Sports Media, Melbourne was previously an on-air sports personality for Rogers tv Barrie from 2014 to 2019, appearing on studio programming as well as in the commentary booth for baseball, hockey, football, and soccer broadcasts. He has also covered events as a play-by-play broadcaster for both George Brown College and York University.

"It's going to be a great season," said Melbourne. "I'm thrilled and honoured to be a part of the Baycats media team once again in 2022. It's going to be a fantastic setup for Baycats fans to be able to follow their favourite ballclub - whether local to Simcoe County or farther away from the ballpark. In 2022, with Rogers tv showing each Baycats home game, it's going to be easier and more fun than ever to keep up with the ballclub."

Melbourne, who is also the media coordinator for the Baycats, will also be one of the primary digital presenters for BarrieBaycats.com and Baycats TV, hosting an expanded Baycats TV Pre-Game Show and Baycats Banter, the team's official podcast.

Each 2022 Barrie Baycats home game will air live (and be available as replays) on Baycats TV in addition to airing on Rogers tv Barrie (Cable 10) locally. Select road games may also be available on Baycats TV and/or Baycats Radio/Baycats social media platforms, with additional details to be announced.
