Baycats Sign Outfielder Edgar Figueroa for 2026
Barrie, ON — The Barrie Baycats are pleased to announce the signing of outfielder Edgar Figueroa, a highly accomplished international player from Pimentel, Dominican Republic.
Figueroa brings an extensive professional and international résumé to Barrie, having competed at the highest levels across multiple countries and leagues. He spent three seasons in the Nicaraguan Winter League, leading the league in batting once, and two seasons in Colombia, where he also captured a batting title. In the Dominican Republic, Figueroa played four seasons with Gigantes del Cibao, one of the country’s premier professional clubs.
His professional experience also includes time in Venezuela and Mexico, along with competition throughout Brazil, Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Colombia, showcasing his adaptability and consistency across international leagues.
On the international stage, Figueroa is a member of the Dominican National Team, where he has earned two Gold Gloves, two batting titles, and recognition as Pan American and Central American Athlete of the Year. He also has minor league experience, spending parts of three seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and has been a standout performer in the Dominican Summer League, where he was the batting leader for two seasons and earned two MVP awards.
The Baycats are excited to add a player of Figueroa’s caliber and experience to the roster and look forward to the impact he will make both offensively and defensively in the outfield this season.
