Baycats Re-Sign Infielder Branfy Infante for 2026

Barrie, ON The Barrie Baycats are set to welcome back a familiar and decorated presence with the return of infielder Branfy Infante, the longest tenured active Baycat on the team.

Infante has been a member of the Baycats organization since 2014, when he was acquired in a trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since then, he has played a significant role in one of the most dominant eras in Intercounty Baseball League history, helping Barrie capture six consecutive championships from 2014 to 2019. In total, Infante is an eight-time league champion, cementing his legacy as a proven winner at the league’s highest level.

Over his Baycats career, Infante has appeared in 307 games across regular season and playoff competition, compiling a .280 batting average with 311 hits, 190 RBIs, and 62 stolen bases in 1,112 at-bats. His offensive consistency has been felt year after year, with strong performances in both the regular season and the postseason.

Infante has delivered in key moments throughout his time in Barrie, including multiple productive playoff runs. Notable performances include a .339 batting average during the 2015 playoffs, a .304 mark in the 2018 postseason, and a .325 average during the 2021 regular season, showcasing his ability to perform when it matters most. After last appearing on the field during the 2023 season, Infante missed time due to injury.

As the Baycats look ahead to 2026, Infante’s return adds continuity, experience, and a championship pedigree to the roster — traits that have defined both his career and the Baycats’ historic run of success.

The Baycats open up their 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign on May 14th at 7:38 pm at Athletic Kulture Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Get your tickets here
