Baycats Sign Right-Handed Pitcher Oscar Moreta for 2026

Barrie, ON — The Barrie Baycats have signed right-handed pitcher Oscar Moreta for the 2026 season.

Moreta, 22, is from Villa Verde, Dominican Republic and joins the Baycats after spending three seasons in the Baltimore Orioles organization. He pitched in rookie ball in the Dominican Summer League from 2022 to 2024, gaining valuable professional experience at the affiliated level. Moreta was released from the Orioles organization on January 16 of last year.

In his most recent professional season in 2024, Moreta appeared in 12 relief outings, posting a 4-1 record over 22 innings pitched with a 3.68 earned run average and 22 strikeouts. His performance highlighted his ability to work effectively out of the bullpen and generate swings and misses.

Primarily used as a relief pitcher, Moreta is expected to slot into the Baycats bullpen, where his professional background and right-handed arm add depth and reliability to the pitching staff.

The Baycats look forward to welcoming Moreta to Barrie and are excited about the impact he can make during the upcoming season.

The Baycats open up their 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign on May 14th at 7:38 pm at Athletic Kulture Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Get your tickets here
