BAYCATS DROP BOTH GAMES OF SUNDAY'S DOUBLEHEADER
Chatham-Kent, ON – The Baycats dropped both games of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Barnstormers, as Chatham-Kent scored seven runs in each contest.
Juan Benítez and Cesar Rosado got the starts for Barrie. Benítez went in game one, throwing five innings while giving up two runs on three hits and striking out five. Rosado took the mound in game two and was tagged with the loss after a three-inning outing in which he allowed five unearned runs.
Barrie struck first in game one on a Willy Garcia home run and added another two innings later, when Tristan Clarke scored on a double play. Spencer Morin’s two-out, bases-clearing double in the sixth was the difference, as Chatham took a 5–2 lead. Ramon Henriquez took the loss, walking four and surrendering the three runs that scored on the Morin double. Relief pitcher Aden Ryan earned the win.
Game One: Barnstormers 7, Baycats 2
Owen Constantineau’s two-run double in the first inning got the Barnstormers off to a strong start in game two. Chatham held a 3–0 lead after the opening frame, but Barrie responded with a double from Andrew Johnston, cashing in Tristan Clarke and Noah Hull. Hull later homered in the sixth for Barrie’s third run, but the home side kept chipping away.
Yuri Yokoyama earned the win, going five innings while allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out five. Eric Pettipiece notched the save—his second of the season.
Game Two: Barnstormers 7, Baycats 4
